February was cold and the ice was even colder. Last month, many of our favorite celebs balled out on bedazzled chains, rings, and even Crocs Jibbitz. Hip-hop legend Missy Elliot made a piece inspired by one of her most iconic music videos. Drake spent a ticket on a ring that was dedicated to his son Adonis. And Tyler, The Creator was impressed by one of the quirkiest pieces of jewelry featured in this roundup.
Great jewelry will always catch our attention and here were some of the best pieces we saw last month. Check out more details on some of the biggest celebrity jewelry purchases from February below.
Snoop Dogg’s Death Row Chain
One of the biggest celebrity jewelry purchases made last month commemorates a major deal within the music industry. In February, it was revealed that Snoop Dogg was the new owner of Death Row Records. The pioneering West Coast hip-hop label, which was originally founded by Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, The D.O.C., and Dick Griffey in 1991, was owned by MNRK Music Group before Snoop purchased the label this year. Although no price was disclosed, Death Row Records was auctioned for a cool $18 million in 2009. One can only assume that Snoop threw down a couple Ms to acquire the label where he launched his own career at. Of course, to celebrate the occasion Snoop released his 20th studio album B.O.D.R. (Bacc on Death Row) and made himself a custom chain and pendant inspired by the album’s cover. The piece boasted 250 grams of gold and over 13 carats of natural VS diamonds. Snoop ended up wearing his new piece for his historic performance at the Super Bowl halftime show this year. Additionally, a month before his performance, Snoop Dogg also gifted Eli Manning his own Death Row Records chain. Although it’s difficult to estimate the value of Snoop’s chain, a toned down version can still cost as much as $8,000 alone.
